Tyler Brûlé began his career as a reporter for the BBC, before turning to print journalism where he wrote for The Guardian, Stern, The Sunday Times and Vanity Fair. In 1996 Brûlé launched Wallpaper (sold in over 50 countries) and in May 2002 he sold his stake to focus on developing Winkreative, the full-service branding and design agency he set up in 1998. In February 2007, Brûlé launched Monocle, an international briefing on current affairs, business, culture and design. Published 10 times a year and distributed in over 65 countries, Monocle is a global media brand that combines print, web, retail and broadcast components. There are freestanding shops, the e-commerce site on monocle.com and the audio service Monocle 24. In 2001 Brûlé became the youngest ever recipient of the British Society of Magazine Editors Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2011 he was awarded Ad Age’s ‘Editor of the Year’ trophy. Brûlé is also a regular columnist for the Financial Times.
