Seit 2012 Director Data & Innovation und seit 2015 Chief Data Scientist bei d.core in München. Zudem seit 2014 Gründer und Geschäftsführer von DataLion.
Benedikt Koehler studied sociology, anthropology and psychology in Munich. After university, he worked as researcher and lecturer on globalization, public opinion, collective memory, statistics and media change. In 2006 he received a PhD for his dissertation on cosmopolitan lifestyles and communities. He also wrote as a freelance journalist for leading German magazines and newspapers such as Spex, Telepolis, test card, taz and Süddeutsche Zeitung and worked as consultant for Internet and media companies like Webmiles, ORF or Hubert Burda Media. In 2008 he founded the Social Media Association, the first trade association for social media in Germany.
2009, he joined leading Social Media intelligence company ethority in Hamburg as head of research and strategy. As ethority's Chief Operating Officer, he has been responsible for all operative business in Germany and abroad which includes strategy consultancy, market research and communication strategies for clients such as Telefonica O2, Hansgrohe or ARAG.
In January 2010, he wrote the “Slow Media Manifesto” for sustainable media production together with Sabria David and Jörg Blumtritt. Right now the manifesto has sparked a worldwide movement and has been translated in 15 languages. He also wrote statistical analysis tools for various Social Media platforms such as the German brand dashboard Brandtweet and the Twitter statistics tool Brandtweet Statistics (formerly known as TwitterFriends), which has been featured in many publications on Social Media marketing.
